BYOB (Bring Your Own Baby)

I have gotten to bring Sophie to work with me over a few days this week and last and she has been an angel.
This is Sophie and her teddy fast asleep.

New Year's Resolution: 12 step program

I have been thinking about some goals for the New Year. Of course the first things that I think of are the typical resolutions of getting in shape and saving more money (or any for that matter). I really do want to make some goals to achieve, but I think that I am going to make them monthly goals. With monthly goal I figure that I will be more likely to accomplish something and I will feel the rewards from my diligence to them sooner. It is like a 12 step program one step each month to help me reach my end goal. I am not going to list all my goals here, partly because I haven't decided them yet and partly so that I am the one holding me to them.

January:

  • Spend one hour a week to either blog or write in Sophie's scrapbook about the things she did that week.
  • Prepare for work and getting Sophie ready the night before. (This includes remembering to charge and pack my cell phone)
  • Put $25 away each week to save for visiting Hawaii! (Sara, I miss you already)
I think that this will be good for the first month plus a few personal ones! Good Luck with your goals and have a Happy New Year!!

Sledding all the way!

Erik has come to visit us here in SLC and today he and I went sledding while Mike was at home working and watching Sophie. Here are some shots from our adventure.
Erik's action figure shot.

This is a 16 shot clip with our new camera! Thanks mom and dad!

Erik and I found this jump and padded the landing area so that we would have a softer landing then Erik's first jump. The first jump he went off, he landed on the 1/4" of snow and the grass.

This tree was just begging to be climbed.

Month Five: The First Bite

Sophie got to taste her first bit of "food" last Friday for her five month birthday. I could tell that she was very ready to eat because had been watching us eat for about the last month. She really liked the rice cereal and has eaten it happily everyday since. Sophie doesn't know yet, but Santa (Grandma and Grandpa Olson) got Sophie a High Chair for Christmas.

Sophie would go cross-eyed looking at the spoon. She is so dang cute!!

Merry Christmas from Sophie

Since Sophie is the cutest of our family, we voted that she represent us for our Christmas picture. Well, really we just haven't taken a family one yet, but hopefully we can do that soon. I looked forever to find a cute Christmas dress for Sophie and finally found one. Here are some cute pictures we took in front of my parents' Christmas tree.

Four Months Old

Sophie turned four months last week and yesterday had her doctor's appointment. She is now 13lbs 3.5oz and 24 inches tall. She is still in the 50th percentile for her weight and head size, but has moved to the 75th percentile for her height. The doctor says she is looking great. We really like our pediatrician, he is pretty funny. He always tells us the "book" answer first and then what everyone really does. We talked about starting to introduce solid foods, but we are not going to till she is at least 5 months (which is only in a few weeks from now).

Sophie has started to roll from her tummy to her back and is getting closer with rolling the other direction. She smiles all the time and is still such a good baby. The only time you don't want to cross her is when food is taken from her. It doesn't matter if she has had 1 oz or 100 oz she will scream when it is gone. As for diapering, my vote is Luvs!!! We switched from Huggies and the Luvs work so much better. They hold so much more and fit much better. Plus they are the same price as Luvs. (End commercial for Luvs)

Sophie is going to have her first Thanksgiving and Aunt Holly bought Sophie and Tayen (Tara and Ryan's newest addition) matching tops. We will have to get a picture of them together.

Yeah Turkey!

Sick today

Mike and I have food poisoning. We are pretty sure it was from a frozen pizza we ate last night for dinner. Needless to say we tried to go to work but left to work at home after an hour. I hate to be sick. Thanks Grandma Beaird for taking Sophie for us.

We had our 4th Annual Halloween Party. It was a blast. We played some games, ate some yummy food and had a good time. Here are a few of the costumes. (I didn't take that many pictures so you will have to check out other peoples blogs for more)

A Day at the Park

This was a couple weekends ago that we went to Sugar House Park and walked around. It was such a nice day and we just sat out on the lawn to enjoy the weather.

Visit to Washington

Last weekend Sophie and I got to go to Washington. We went there to throw a bridal shower for my friend Cara who is getting married next month.

It was Sophie's first flight and she did great and slept almost the whole way both directions. While there we had a family dinner and got to see my cousin Michael's new little girl. Her name is Hazel and she is two months older then Sophie.

This is Rachael, Michael's wife, with Hazel and Sophie and me. Rachael you are so sweet. I am glad to have you in the family!!

Family Emergency

Last Friday Bjorn went missing. The landscapers had left the back gate open and Bjorn was able to get out. After two hours of looking for him, he some how managed to make his way back to the house. He was covered in mud head to paw and was slowly limping across the room. As I inspected him I could see that he had been hurt. When I touched his back he would yipe and cry. I rinsed him the best I could and then rushed him to the animal hospital. He was just lying there in pain as I held him while we waited for him to be treated. The doctor said that it was likely he had been hit by a car. He was in shock, his temperature was dropping and he was badly bruised over his whole body. The x-rays showed that his lungs were bleeding but he did not have any broken bones, which is amazing. They kept him overnight in an oxygen chamber and on an IV with fluids and morphine. We checked on him through out the night and they said that he had been eating some and seemed to be improving. On Saturday the vet cleared him to be sent home after the x-rays showed that the bleeding in his lungs had stopped and were starting to heal. So Bjorn is home now and getting better everyday. He is moving a little slower, but he seems to be coming around. We are so grateful that Bjorn is doing ok.

This is while we are waiting for the doctor.

It is hard to tell in this picture but you can see the bleeding under the skin.

Sophie and Tayen

Sophie has a new cousin Tayen Fai Beaird. They are 12 weeks apart and Sophie looks like a giant next to her. Tayen was 6 lbs 11 oz and 19" long and Sophie was 6 lbs 1 oz 18.5" long. I can't beleive that Sophie was smaller then Tayen.

The three girls Mia, Sophie and Tayen.

Almost three months old

Sophie is getting so big. She had her two month appointment last week (when she was actually 2 1/2 months) and she weighed 10lb 4oz and was 22.5" long. She is in the 50th percentile. The doctor said that the only advice he has is to not have any more children because Sophie is such a good baby.

It was cold this weekend so we busted out Sophie's little pink suit. We call it the coma suit because when she is in it, she just falls asleep.

Baby Blessing Sept 28, 2008

I have been a slacker when it comes to posting on my blog. I guess I am adjusting to going back to work and being a mommy. Plus I couldn't find the camera charger. Well I could continue to list a million reasons but instead I will tell you what has been going on.

On September 28, 2008 Sophia Emilee Beaird was blessed by her Dad, Uncles, and Friends. It was a beautiful blessing and a great time to have family together.

That day was doublely special because Dmitri Donald Fedderson was also blessed by his dad, uncles and friends. Dmitri and Sophie are exactly three weeks apart.

This was the first time that my dad, little brother, grandma, uncle Leif and aunt Donna had seen Sophie. It was great to have them all there to share our joy of having Sophie in our life.

This is a picture of 4 generations.

Sophie is smiling at her daddy. I think that this is the look that he will see when she wants something from daddy. I think that he will be a pushover when it comes to getting something for his little girl.

Family Photos

We just got our first family photos back and they look great. It is so fun to be a family and Mike and I are loving being parents. Sophie is now just over two months old and she is doing new things everyday. She has been smiling and cooing at us. She especially likes when her daddy talks silly to her. She is starting to fit into her 0-3 month clothes and has grown out of a few newborn things. I swear she is just growing so fast.

More Craft Projects

Tara and I had seen these cute clip holder frames and decided to give it a go. They turned out so cute. We made flower clips that can go in your hair or clip to a headband and the frame for them to clip too.

Viva Las Vegas!!

Viva Las Vegas!! Mike, Daniel, Sara and I decided that we needed a break, but being broke and having new babies we couldn't go too far. So Vegas it is. We borrowed Dan and Juli’s van and stayed at Aimee and Chiz’s house (thanks everyone). We just hungout and did whatever we wanted to. We heard that the weather had been in the 100’s but it actually was a little cooler and had a nice wind blowing threw. Sophie and Dmitri did pretty good on their first long car ride. Only a couple of extra stops for them. We had a great time!

Here is a picture of Sara and my view in the van.

These are pictures I took of Sophie this morning. She is so dang cute and getting bigger everyday. Tomorrow we are having family photos taken. With the picture package I get a website with some of the pictures, so when I have the link I will post that for you to check out.
Also, Scott my brother is coming to visit tonight and will be with us through the weekend. I am very excited to she him and have Sophie meet him.

Happy Happy Birthday Mikey Dear...

Today is Mike's 28th Birthday. He is growing up so fast. We got to go out to dinner last night with friends and family to celebrate. And today Ryan and Tara came over and I made a special breakfast for everyone. Then Mike got to play his PS3 all day. He said that it was a great birthday. It was also Rex and Suzy's 40th anniversary yesterday and Daniel and Sara's 1st anniversary tomorrow.

Craft Time!!

Tara has inspired me to dig into crafting more. This last week's project was making curtains for the master bedroom. I had originally bought just 2 curtain panels from Ikea and was going to put one on each window because they are $30 per pair. Then Tara and I were at Ross and found a King Duvet cover for $12. With the cover we were able to make four panels and I was able to return the ones to Ikea that I had not gotten around to opening, let alone hanging. Since I returned the curtains, I decided to buy a pack of sheers for $10 to add to the middle. So for $22 I dressed two windows. Here is the final result.

One more picture

Right after I finished the previous posting we took this picture. It was so cute that I wanted to post it too!!!
