8 1/2 Month Post

Well since I didn't get around to posting about Sophie on her 8 month birthday, I decided it's better late then never. Sophie is now almost 8 1/2 months old. She is such a sweet and happy girl. She is sitting up very well on her own with minimal tipping over. She loves to roll around on the floor and play with her toys. She prefers to roll on the hardwood floor instead of the carpet. I think that it because all the "fun things" that she is not allowed to play with are off the carpet. She is just starting to army crawl a bit, but she seems to be quiet content to not really get anywhere.

Sophie really likes running around in her walked (that was the best 5 bucks I have ever spend). She likes to stand in it and also chase Bjorn around in it. She likes to stand when ever possible. She is not doing it on her own or pulling herself up, but she just hold on to your fingers and stands/walks around.

Sophie has such an easy temperament, but I can tell she doesn't like to be told no. Like when she rolls over to the garbage can and tries to knock it over, but she gets over it quick and is on to something else. She has been such a joy in our lives and we love her so much. Mike and I rush home everyday just to spend more time with her. And in case anyone is wondering, we still love Bjorn very much too. He even gets to sleep in our bed.

Mike - the baby whisperer

Sophie was being kind of fussy and wiggly so Mike decided to take a go at settling her down and this is what happened.

Sophie's First Time Swimming

My mom can down this weekend to visit us. I had been wanting to take Sophie swimming so on Saturday she came with me (Mike works on Saturdays). There is a nice rec center down the street from our house. It has a kids play area, a big water slide, a lazy river and other swimming area. Sophie was not so sure about the water at first, but after a few minutes she totally got into it. Here is a clip of us in the shallow end where she could touch the ground.

This is me at the top of the big slide. It is really fast. Oh yeah, I got my mom to go down it too!

Mike as Mr. Mom

Mike is fortunate (or in this case maybe unfortunate) enough to be home with Sophie on Mondays because of his work schedule. His is a great daddy and loves spending time with Sophie. This past week Sophie has gotten her first cold along with a cough. On Monday this is the picture that Mike text to me while I was at work.

Mike fed Sophie a little too much and she coughed up orange juice and snot! It even went down his shirt.

Awesome Taco Soup

If you want to try an awesome taco soup here is a great recipe. There are other great recipes on this blog too. I would recommend the teriyaki marinade. It is my friend Cara's mom's blog and I have a link to it on the side of my blog too.

My Awesome Husband

As most of you know, Mike has decided to go back to school. He is getting a bachelor's degree in Networking Security. He has been in school since October and has been doing really well. He just took his finals for Psychology and Programming. Each final was 3 1/2 hours. He did really well on both, but especially his Psyc. final. He got 100%! I am very proud of him and just wanted to share that with you. Love you babe!

Happy Birthday to Suzy

Yesterday was my mother-in-law Suzy's birthday. Some of the family was able to get together and celebrate. Thank Dan and Juli for hosting. We all had a great time. I especially like to see all the grandbabies (and not so babies) playing together.

Latest Sewing Project

With Tara's supervision I made a cart cover for Sophie. Mike loved the fabric and he called it and "explosion of joy." We used the cover at Costco last night and it works great! I think Sophie liked it too, though you can't tell that from the picture. I think I will make a second one, one for each car. Oh, it can also be used for highchairs too. There is a bag that attaches to it for it to fold up into, but I did have enough of the same fabric to make it, so I am on the hunt for more fabric.

This is a McCalls Pattern and it also includes a pattern for a double cart cover (it has to sets of leg and strap holes.)
