At Least Potty Training Is Going Well

Well bedtime may still be unsuccessful, potty training is going well. Addie goes poo and pee on the potty a few times a day. Just like with Sophie we just do it when it is convenient for us and her. On Sunday she stayed dry during her nap and went potty when she woke up. Such a big girl!

Night one, not so much

Well night one in the big girl bed did not go well. After a lot of crying and not staying in bed, she ended up being put in head pack n play, which she can't climb out of YET. Then she woke up at 3am and talked her way into bed with us.

Here's hoping that tonight goes better. She at least is pretending to lay in her bed this time. We will see.

She Jumped the Fence

On Saturday it happened, Addie climbed out of her crib.  We had put the girls down to bed and Sophie kept getting up, which was keeping Addie awake.  Sophie left their room and closed the door. A few minutes later we heard the doorknob jiggling.  She must have gotten out ok because we didn't hear any thump when she got out.

As we were discussing it Sophie said, oh man, I should have stayed in there to see how she did it. She seemed really bummed that she missed it.

We were busy doing other things this weekend and haven't gotten around to changing her bed to a toddler bed, but I plan to tomorrow.  On the same day, our neighbor's daughter climbed out of her crib and broke her arm! So sad...I don't want Addie to be next.

Married for Nine

Today Mike and I have been married for nine years.  For those older then us, we are starting to understand what you mean when you say the time flies by.  For those younger then us, listen when someone says the time flies.  Mike and I have taken time lately to reflect on our past and plan for now and the future.  Here is to many more years together and really LIVING our lives together with our beautiful family.  Love you babe.

Halloween Cuties

It was so warm tonight out trick or treating. No jackets needed and it a good thing too because these girls looked so cute.

The first couple houses Addie didn't get the idea of it. She wanted to keep going back to the same house. After the third house she figured it out and was on a roll. She was even trying to shut people's door for them after they gave her the candy.

We live in such a great neighborhood and had a blast seeing everyone and joining the little driveway parties along the way.

Love you cuties. Thanks for a great night together.

That's not a tissue

Some time ago Addie learned to blow her nose.  Usually she just farmer blows or sticks a finger up one side and blows.  Lately, however, she has been using a tissue or baby wipe.  Today in church Addie was sitting on grandpa Beaird's lap.  As she was sitting there, she reached over grabbed his tie and blew her nose on it.  Lol...Mike and I were cracking up.

Poor grandpa, he was a good sport about it. I guess that is better then the farmer blow.

Poop!

We have wanted to start Addie on potty training but our attempts to do so a while back had not gone well. A broken toilet lid and screaming fit made us stop trying.

A few nights ago however, Addie did not want me to put her diaper on. I finally said to her, fine if you don't want your diaper then you need to go on the potty. She got up and walked over to the potty. I helped her up and she sat on the potty but didn't go. She did sit there a while and read a book.

Then she wanted down and I figured she was done, so went and grab her diaper.  When I came back she still didn't want her diaper on so I told her again to go on the potty.

This time I helped her up and said, ok, go poopy and she did!  She knew exactly what she was doing and it was awesome!  At that moment I knew she could do it and we didn't have to change very many more poopy diapers!  It seems funny, but I smiled about it all night.

Now here we are three days later and she has gone poop on the potty at least once a day.  I am sure we will still have a few messy ones to change, but even one less is great. To anyone who is thinking about early potty training, I say go for it.  Sophie was 12 months old when we started with her and by 15 months we didn't change another poopy diaper.  The pee part took longer but that is the easy stuff to change.

Love you so much Addie!! You are amazing!!

What is she doing at 15 months?

I think the question should really be what isn't she doing?  Addie is busy, busy, busy! She loves to play with her sister, climb on EVERYthing, and give huggies!  One of her new tricks is if she is being told no, she will run over and hug you.  So sneaky and cute.  I am pretty sure she thinks she is a monkey.  She swings on anything she can.

She has been talking up a storm. Some of her new words are cheese, up, this and So Fee (Sophie). She has also been calling everyone Mom even though she can say Dad, Grandpa and Grandma.

Sesame Street with Cousins

On Saturday, we went to see Sesame Street Live with a few of the girls' cousins.  We basically had a section to ourselves on the floor level left of the stage.  It was great because the characters would come down to the floor and dance with the kids.

It was fun watching all the girls and one boy be so excited.
Poor Noah is very out numbered 7 girls and 1 boy.
I brought glow necklaces for the kids to help with the kids wanting the outrageously priced stuff there.  The was Elmo balloons being sold for $10 and we watched 19 of them sold in just a few minutes!

Addie was an angel during the show. What a cutie!

DISNEY WORLD!!!

In September, my parents took Mike, the girls and me to Disney World for a week.  It was so fun! Thanks mom and dad!  It was also great because Sara and Daniel were able to drive down from Georgia to join us for 5 days.

(Mom, I would like to insert some more pictures here but I need them from Dad.)

My parents flew to SLC and met us at the airport to fly the rest of the way together.  The 4 hour flight went pretty well.  Addie only screamed for about 20-30 mins and I didn't scream or throw-up from my anxiety about flying, so I think it was a good flight.  After landing, we got our rental van and headed to the Swan hotel on at Walt Disney World.  Once checked in we met Sara, Daniel and the kids for dinner. This was the first time we saw little Paige, and boy what a cutie!! Of Course Sophie and Dmitri starting playing like they had never been apart.

The next day we headed to the Magic Kingdom for our first day of what Mike called "Disney Boot Camp" (i.e., walking around theme parks, carrying children and strollers, etc). One nice thing about being on Disney property is the transportation to all the parks right at your hotel.  It rained for about the first half of the day, but then dried up and we enjoyed the rest of the day.  Disney is really redoing Fantasyland so about half of it was under construction, but the new parts that are open were great.  They have added a second Dumbo ride and a Dumbo playland in the line queue.  You check in and get a pager like at a restaurant then let the kids play.  When your pager goes off, you check out and get in a short line for the ride. For us, there was no line. We didn't actually have to wait in lines almost the whole week.  We walked on just about every ride in all the parks.

On day 3 we went to the Animal Kingdom.

On day 4 we went to Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studio

Wednesday was Sara and Daniel's last day so we went back to the Magic Kingdom for the first half the day.  Then they drove back to Georgia.  It was so great having them there with us and we are excited to see them when they visit Utah in November. We spent the rest of Wednesday at Epcot.

Thursday and Friday we left the Disney property and when to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure.

Triathlon #3

In May, Tara and I ran a sprint triathlon through a race series at the South Davis County Rec Center.  This was my third race and Tara's first.  Thanks for doing it with me Tara.  Maybe next time we can get the boys to do it too!

Family Camping Trip

We try and do a family camping trip every August before school starts and it gets too cold.  This year we went to Soapstone Pass which is about 1 1/2 hours from us.  It was really fun and I loved hanging out with everyone.  We cooked dinner, sang songs and then froze our butts off all night!  It was much colder then we thought it would be. All of us kept waiting for the sun to come up just so we could get out of bed.
The next day we hiked, rode ATVs and hung out.  I love being with family!

These two girls can't get enough of each other.  A few months ago I told Sophie that she need to spend time with her other cousins too. She replied by saying, but Mom I just can't get enough of Mia, she's just the best I never had.
 A Boy and His Dog
Dan, Juli, Mike and I decided to hike to the top of the mountain across from where we camped to get up to the top of this rock formation.  It was so far up and I wasn't sure that we would make it, but low and behold we did!  So beautiful.

What a good looking family.

I love my sweet babies.

Davis County Fair

There are a lot of great things about where we live. One of those it that we are within walking distance of the Davis County Fair.  It is not super big, but it is plenty of fair for two little ones.
We headed over with a friend in the neighborhood.
Above is Sophie at the petting zoo and
the two pictures below are the kids
checking out the 4H animals.
Sophie and Max go to preschool together.
They are each others favorite playmate.

After the animals and the rides we got some of our favorite fair food
and headed home. It was a fun night out.
