Cancun Part 1

Cancun has been really fun! We are having a blast and enjoying the weather and the beach. We spent one day in the water and boogie boarding and another day we went out to Chichen Itza to the Mayan Ruins. It was amazing! It was incredible to be standing next to such awesome history. Here are a few pictures from our trip so far.

Getting ready to go boogie boarding and have fun in the waves

My cute hubby posing on the beach

This is the first evening looking from the beach back at the hotel. It was a little overcast but still beautiful.

The hotel had bike and a group of us rode around town

Chichen Itza

This is the main temple in the center of Chichen Itza

This is the hoop that the players had to get the ball through only using there hips, shoulder and I think knees. If it looks high, that's because it is.

This is a very little Mayan woman selling tortilla napkins. She was maybe 3 1/2 feet tall. Most of the Mayan people we saw were very little.

This is an area that has been excavated and exposed layers of the city that had been covered. In different eras buildings would be knocked down and the foundations would be added to and built on again.

Some of the symbolic carvings

This are some of the masks that the locals make by hand and paint with plants of different colors. It was really neat watching them make them. We bought one to add to our collection.

Mike and Joe hanging out waiting for the group.

This is part of the Mayan city outside of Chichen Itza.
