Hmmm....

One of these things is not like the other

Sophie woke up the other day with her eye swollen.
She is better now. We think it was a bug bite.

Catch Up Post

I know that I have had a lot going on, but I feel like I have been a bad blogger. Poor little Sophie has had so many monumental occasions and I have failed to record most of them in both photos and words. Let me think, what has been going on?

Sophie has...
gotten two more teeth in for a total of 6. (Four on the top and two on the bottom)
fallen and bumped her head enough to leave a mark at least twice
a new front facing car seat for one of the cars, the other car still has the rear-facing
tasted veggie chips, pickles, strawberries, and a bunch of other grown up foods
slept in her own room
learned to climb up the stairs, but not down
climbed out of her walker
learned to remove her bib when she is done eating

Sophie likes to...
uses the crib at a teething toy
tried to make Bjorn her best friend by following him every where
been talking non-stop including, ma ma, da da, a, b, yeah, wow, and very high pitched screams
play peek-a-boo
talk on the phone
crawl toward the bathroom and chance she gets

Our favorite things about Sophie
she almost always sleeps through the night
she is happy most of the time
she loves to play with you
she has a great smile and beautiful blue eyes
did we say that she has beautiful blue eyes?

Other happening in our life.
We are still unpacking and
getting settled into our new house.

Landscaping the New House

In case you haven't seen the pictures of my "yard" on my mom's blog here they are. Some of the weeds are over 6 feet tall.

Mike spend a few hours and was only able to get down some of the weeds on the front side of the house.

Yesterday Mike rented a tractor and dragged the yard for a couple hours. It made a big difference. He has the tractor all day today too. Here are some pictures that I took this morning.

We Bought a House Yesterday

So have not been blogging about the process of buying our house, because I don't really want to remember all of the ups, downs and long waiting periods that you have to go through. We put an offer in on our house March 27th and we closed yesterday May 22. It has been a long process mostly because we bought a property that was in short sale (which it seems almost every property is in short sale) and you have to deal with a bank and seller. Anyway, there was lots of waiting and waiting and more waiting, but all in all, it wasn't too bad. I think the most trouble we had was May 21 when we were supposed to close and things just kept popping up that needed to be taken care of. So as of yesterday it is official, we are homeowners again.
Here are some pictures of the new place.

Master Bedroom - This has an on suite with double sinks, jetted tube, separate shower, toilet nook, and walk-in closet.

Sophie's Room - There is a walking closet here too.

Garage - This picture is from the stairs that lead down into the garage. The main floor of the house is basically on the second level. There is a daylight/walkout basement so that raises the rest of the house. It is not a split level there are just stairs on the outside leading up.

Living/Great Room - That lady standing behind me is our Realtor Dorene (she is bite size and super awesome). This is our main living space and it is open to the kitchen and dining area.

Kitchen - The living room is toward the right of this shot and it is taken while standing in the dinning room. The white door is our pantry. We bought a fridge and it will be delivered on Tuesday.

Sophie's 9 Month Check Up

Sophie went to the doctor on Monday for her nine month appointment (yes I know she is almost 10 months) and everything is looking great. She is 18 lbs 3.5 oz and 28 inches tall. That means that she has put on 12 lbs 2.5oz and 9.5 inches since she was born. She was in the 75th percentile for everything at her 6 month appointment but she has now backed off a bit and is in the 50th for her height and 25th for her weight. I guess when they move to solid foods they tend to lose weight because the formula is so nutrition packed and they are not getting nearly as much. All in all the doctor thinks she looks great, happy, healthy and cute as ever.

(not this is not Sophie, I just thought it was cute)
I already posted some of Sophie's latest tricks, but here are some more.
Sophie, you are really crawling now and you are starting to explore things beyond the reaches of the living room rug. A week or so ago, you managed to get a hold of the power cord that all of the entertainment center is plugged in to and pull it out just enough to turn it all off. Did you know it takes FIVE MINUTES for the Tivo to turn back on? I think that you just wanted mommy and daddy to stop watching TV and play with you.

You are still mommy's super good eater. You like everything and you are not too messy yet. I think you are starting to figure out that if you drop something on the floor from your highchair that mommy or daddy will pick it up. You love to play with your little pink CareBear. You will dig through your toy basket just to find it. You always stick it's nose in your mouth and try to talk.

You are happy and smiley all the time and sleep though the night every night. Mommy and Daddy are extremely grateful for that. You love dogs and squeal we when you see one. You like to chase Bjorn around in your walker and you occasionally catch him.

Yesterday at Aunt Tara's house you started crawling up the stairs. You made it about three steps before she caught you. Now she has to start putting the gate up on the steps so you can't try to make more getaways.

About a week ago your two top teeth broke through, I haven't taken a picture of them yet, but I will when you can see them more. They are really cute.
I could go on and on, but for now, just know that mommy and daddy love you a lot.

Cucumber Drift

I don't know if you all know, but Mike and I both work for Maverik. Today at the office there was a cucumber drift. We have all been given cucumbers or zucchini and a Hot Wheels Car.

Here is Mike and his car. It ended up being just barely too wide and he had to modify it to race.

This one is mine. There was more to it, but I had to take it off to race. Neither of us won a race, but I did win an award for "BEST CARVED"

9 Months and 2 Days

Sophie is now 9 months and 2 days old. (That is only 3 months from being 1 year old, ahhh!)
She is such a happy and playful little girl. She has now perfected the art of army crawling with an occasional step or two of real crawling. On Easter Sunday in Relief Society she crawled to her car seat and pulled herself up to her feet for the first time. Since then she really has not done it again until last night when she pulled herself up with the couch.

She has been eating all different kinds of foods and even a few bites of some sweet treats. She also is able to feed herself little bits and things like banana, bread, and crackers. She doesn't really seem to have a food preference yet, and I am hoping that will stick.

Up until about three weeks ago Sophie always slept on her back. Now she mostly sleeps on her tummy but she moves every which way in her crib. She also tends to move very close to a side of the bed and snuggle herself up close.

She does make lots of funny faces and tries to copy the faces that you make at her. Peek-a-boo is still a very popular game and can get her laughing quiet hard.

Even though she is not very old Sophie has been on 4 round trip plane ride (to and from Seattle to visit Grandma Olson and oh, and the rest of the Olson Family) and a road trip to Vegas (also to see Grandma Olson).

This picture of Sophie sitting in her own seat from our most recent trip to Seattle.

Easter Sunday

(I am a little late on posting this.)
Last Sunday for Easter we got together with some of the Beaird side of the family at Dan and Juli's house for dinner. It was really fun and the weather was so nice. After filling ourselves with the super fab dinner we went out and did a little photo shoot.

As you can see in the picture below Sophie has put the egg down to pick up a chunk of dirt.

I was not able to get the dirt chunk in time and it went right in the mouth.

This is me wiping the dirt out of her mouth.
