9 Months Already?

Addie turned 9 months old on Easter Sunday.  I can't believe that it was 18 months ago that we made the decision the bring another child into this world.  What a great choice that has turned out to be.  Addie is a strong, beautiful and smart little girl.  She is a little more serious then Sophie was but when you get that smile, she just glows!

Some 9 Month Old Highlights:
She is our little mocking bird. Any sound she hears, she trys to copy.
She pulls herself up on everything to stand.  She really wants to walk.
She has a push toy that she uses to walk around on the carpet.
She does not want you to put her binkie in, she will do it.
She can eat just about anything and wants big girl food, not baby food.
She cannot get enough of Sophie.  Sophie makes her happy and giggle.
She loves to snuggle her daddy.  They take a nap together most days.
She doesn't really like animals up close.  They scare her.
She loves to look out the window.  She wants to be a part of the action.

 We love these beautiful girls.

Addie's 8 Months Old

Yesterday Addie turned 8 months old and what does she do?  She Said Mama for her first word!!  Sophie and I were sitting on the couch and Addie said "Mama."  Amazingly I was able to get her to do it again and catch it on camera.  Sophie's first word was Dada.

After rubbing it in to Mike that her first was mama, Addie started saying dada today!  Lol...we laughed that she said dada the next day.

Wow, as I have been thinking about this post I can't believe that 8 months has gone by.  Addie has cut two top teeth, though I am not sure if they are her front teeth or the ones next to them. She has started pulling herself up on furniture and walking along the couch.  She loves to laugh and thinks Sophie is just the best thing ever!

Addie here are some things you can do:
Sit up on your own
Crawl around every where
Pull yourself up in your crib
Try very hard to climb out of your high chair
(we had to start using the straps)
Eat just about anything, except you don't really like carrots
You like to express your feelings, good and bad.

Addie Mommy and Daddy love you so much.  You have the best smile and love to be cuddled.

Sophie's Update

Since there are not very notable ages to updated once you are 3, I thought I would throw one in.  Sophie is 3 years and 7 months old and she is amazing.  She has been a wonderful big sister, helper to mommy, and friend.  I love to sit with Sophie and do crafts, read books, take turns with tv shows, go to the store, coupon together and the list goes on.
Sophie is a great friend.  So caring and thinking of others. I once threaten to give her books away if she wasn't going to take care of them.  I told her that I would give them to someone who would.  She looked at me and totally agreed. She started packing up her books and asked who we could give them too.  Little punk, it wasn't supposed to work like that, but that is just the kind of person she is.  Smart and just gets it.

Sophie's hair has gotten really long and she loves it.  She is a girly girl.  She sits on the counter in the bathroom while I comb and dry her hair.  Then she thanks me for making her hair so beautiful. Man I love that kid.

Now that I have painted a prefect picture, I will throw in a couple of not so prefect things too.  She likes to be sneaky.  I catch her sneaking treats from the pantry and her favorite using mommy's make up without asking.  She would wear make up everyday if I let her.  She is allowed white and light pink eye shadow and some pink lip gloss.  I am trying to think of anything else really notty she has done and I can't.  I am sure there is something.

Sophie says the funniest things.  I need to write them down more, but here are a few I can remember.

"Dad, when Max gets basmiesed (baptized) sharks are going to bite his legs off.  Then he will die and turn into a zombie, because Benji told me that zombies are not nice." (what the heck have we been teaching this girl?)

"Mom, when do I get to go to real school?"

"Mom, how about you watch your show first and then we can watch mine."

"Addie is just darling."

"My goodness Addie, you sound terrible" (when Addie was sick)

When we come home from work Sophie says "So, how was your day?"

"My feet are swheaty."(pronounced like on SNL)

I will try and write more of them down.  She says funny things everyday.

Sophie's Earrings

We have always told Sophie when she was ready that she could get her ears pierced.  She would bring it up here and there, but would tell us that she was not old enough yet.  When I asked her what age was old enough, she didn't really have an answer.  We about a week before Christmas we were riding in the car and she said, "look mom, my ears are growing holes for earrings!"  After a good laugh, I explained that the holes did not grow in your ears, they would have to be pierced at a store.  She wanted to go right then to get her ears pierced.  It was late and we were leaving for Seattle in a few days, so I told her when we went to Grandma's house we would go to the mall and have it done.
We headed to the mall a few days before Christmas and Sophie was ready.  We did warn her that it was going to hurt a bit, but it would go away quick too.  She told us, I will be brave!  As she sat in the chair you could tell she was starting to get a little nerves.  She held real still and they did both sides at once.  Her happy face suddenly turned to tears and looking at Mike and I like what did you just do to me.  Then as quick as she gave us that face, she wiped her eyes and said, "I am going to tell Mia (her cousin) how brave I was and that I didn't even cry."  And that was it.  Her ears were a little tender for a few days, she was good about cleaning and twisting them.  Now she loves them and loves that mommy has them too.

Sophie says to me, "When Addie grows up, she can have her earrings like mine."

7 Months Old (February 8th)

Where does time go?  I would like to know so I can get some of it back!  7 months?  That is practically a year, ok well close anyway. Addie is growing like a really fast flower (not a weed.)  She starting crawling a few days before she turned 7 months.  That is what we figured all a long.  She is a mover!  It is mostly still an army crawl, but she can really get from one place to another. On the go and picking up every tiny thing she finds on the floor to put in her month, sigh.  Addie is very fun loving and starting to act a little shy.  She also seems to get a bit upset when she loses a visual on me.  Not too bad yet, but I hope she gets over that quick.  Addie wants her bottle less and real food more.  She is a good eater and it getting the hang of feeding herself cheerio's and other snacks.
One of our not so favorite new tricks is spiting.  I think she thinks it's funny, but we usually end up with food spit all over us.  Nice Addie.
This is just playing with carrots.  It is one food that she seems to be off and on with.
Sophie acting like Addie.  Sophie is totally in love with Addie.  She wants to be with her all the time.

First time playing on the playground at McDonald's.  Soon these two can play together.

Addie likes to be rocked to sleep.  Her sleeping is hit and miss, but for the most part she only wakes up once at night.  The last few days she has slept in until 9am.  I am in love with that. She can keep that up all she wants.

Christmas in Seattle

Addie
Sophie
We headed to Seattle once again for Christmas.  This time we decided to drive.  I had been nerves about what the weather was going to be like, but we couldn't have asked for better weather.  On Wednesday night we drove to Boise and stayed the night at a hotel.  It was nice to get some driving out of the way and sleep in for a bit.  On Thursday was got back on the road and into Seattle just in time for our favorite dinner Fuji Teriyaki!  We had been worried how Addie would do on such a long car ride.  Her track record for been in the car was terrible to say the least, but she was excellent.  Sophie, who is always awesome, was fabulous too.

It is always fun to be at my parents house for Christmas, even though there were a few families missing.  We did the usual eating delicious food, sing songs and catch up with family.  This year for the first time that I can remember, we did not do a family special person exchange after the party.  It was kind of sad actually.  It is hard to see traditions change, but good to see families grow too.

Christmas morning was fun.  Sophie got just what she asked for a "cowboy hat for girls."  It took some convincing that it was called a cowgirl hat. Beside the hat she got a million other toys.  I guess that is what happens when you are the oldest of only 2 grandchildren or nieces for that matter.  Her uncles' totally spoiled her and Addie too.

Later that day we when to Mike's brother's house in Enumclaw and visited with his family.  We don't see them as often, so it was fun to catch up.  The part that Sophie liked the best was playing with her cousins Arick and Lily.  They are good at playing and Sophie just had a blast.

One of the other reasons we came to Seattle was to be with Erik as he went through the temple the first time.  It was a really neat experience and the first time Mike and I had been through a session there.

You can really see how long Sophie's hair has gotten.  The only hair cut she has ever had was a few days before her second birthday.  She likes her Rapunzel hair.

Mike and I on the back porch of Daryl and Rachel's new house.  Amazing is all I have to say.
We went to Red Lobster with the family for Erik's 19th birthday.
It might look like Sophie is trying to get away from her "Grandma Great" as she calls her, but she loves grandma great a lot.  Sophie likes to skype and talk with her.

I love this face!!

Addie's 6 Months Old (January 8th)

Addie
Sophie
At 6 months old Addie is cute as a button.  We headed to the doctor for her appointment and was not totally surprised by her awesome stats.  She is 29 inches tall which is the 99% and 17lbs 13oz which is the 81% and her head was in the 67%, not sure on the size.  I always knew Addie was awesome, but 99%..lol.  (Sophie's 6 month appointment she was 16 lbs 2.5 oz and 26" tall. She stayed in the 50% for her weight and 75% for her height) It will be interesting to see what she is like at 9 months.  Addie is starting to sit up on her own now.  She is still a little tipsy but getting stronger every day. On January 1st, she cut her first tooth and a second one a few days later.  Sophie has been watching Land Before Time and refers to Addie as a "sharp tooth." Addie will eat just about anything and is starting to have some solid foods too.  She loves bath time and to be held.  Addie we love you so much! Especially Sophie.

Sophie
Have I mentioned that Sophie and Addie look SOOooo much alike?  Sophie has blue eye and blond hair and Addie has brown eyes and hair.  Sophie also had a bit more hair by now then Addie.

This was just a funny pictures of Mike and Sophie that I found while looking for comparison pictures.  I love Sophie's face.

Trying to be like Jesus

Sophie had her first day of her primary class at church today.  This is the conversation we had just a few minutes ago.

Sophie: Mom, I am trying to be like Jesus.

Mom: Like How?

Sophie: I be nice like Jesus.  If you are lost Jesus will help you find your way house.  If you can’t know what to do, Jesus will help you.  If  a wolf is going to get you, Jesus will help you.  If your tv is not working Jesus will come and fix it.  If your shirt is torn Jesus will sew it up. (What?)

Mom: Um…Jesus won’t come and sew up your shirt or fix your tv, but he might send someone to help you.

Sophie: Mom, Jesus takes good care of us.
